Tokyo Ghoul:re Chapter 140 Analysis

All Hope Lost..?!

I was wrong about what happened, this took me by surprised. I assumed Juuzou's knifes were used to distract us from the main perpetrator. Yet, Juuzou was the one to show up in this chapter.

Chapter Analysis

This is very strange and odd in my mind. So, we see Juuzou go visit Shinohara and we see that someone left roses at Shinohara's side.

We cut back to the present and we see a bunch of Naz- I mean we see a bunch of investigators in which Suzuya is somewhat leading.

I honestly did not see it going this direction. Since, Juuzou wanted to rebel against the CCG at some point. Plus, it was so blatantly obvious that it was Juuzou. I didn't think Sui Ishida would take such an obvious route.

Anyways, I am very fearful for Himami's life. I don't care enough for Touka, but I don't want the Imouto Hinami to end up dying from this! She's the backup waifu for Kaneki as well, since Eto is presumably dead.

It turns out that Furuta hatched a complex scheme prior to the fight with Urie and Kuroiwa. This could be a reason why he ran away, as I said in my last analysis I don't know why he wasn't taking it seriously. It seemed somewhat illogical. But, he had a time frame in which he had to catch up with the squad initiating this plan.

I do not see anyway possible for Hinami surviving. It would take some Fairy Tail leveled plot protection to save them from this.

Furuta sends his men after our character with the nazi pose that Yoshitoki commonly did. Which further parallels Yoshitoki and Furuta in a way.

Furuta thinks of something in his mind, "I couldn't care less what comes after. Here, the Dragon will..." What the heck does this mean?! Is Furuta trying to buy some time for Dragon? I really do not have a single clue to what is going on here.

The narrator interestingly enough says the S3 Squad has grown enough for it be called the "expanded" version of the 0 Squad. This is a really weird way to phrase it, there might be some mistranslations going on. Regardless, I also find it odd when they say "expanded," since there is no 0 Squad anymore. Why not just call it the Neo-0 Squad?

I'm glad we see an entire panel of the full original 0 Squad at least in a flashback. Hairu was waifu material, I miss her.

Just looking at the original crew it was OP to be honest. I wouldn't say Sasaki was Special Class Investigator tier back during the beginning of Re. Since, Sasaki ended up getting wrecked by my man Nishio. But, you still have 4 Special Class Investigator tiered characters on there. That could clear house with so many ghouls. Hairu only lost due to a plot device, she had the upper hand until she slipped. Plus, Matsumae was a really strong Ghoul as well. Hirako can keep up with Ui who is a Special Class Investigator.

I find it weird that the narrator who is perhaps Furuta; regardless, we see narrator mention that Juuzou is more popular than Arima. I do not believe this to be true, since even back in the original TG people would always talk about Arima to no end. We don't get nearly as much with that as Juuzou.

We finally go back and see Kaneki and Tsukiyama after quite a whole. Kaneki and the gang head back due to his bad premonition. Yet, he thinks it's more logical to continue to look for food. This irritates me so badly! Like really, you gotta love the plot!

I thought we'd see more from Kaneki's side, but we head back to Naki and the White Suits. I totally forgot about them to be honest.

We see the corpses of 4 members of the White Suits on the ground. You can tell this is a very intense battle. Just one Oggai Squad member seems to be on Associate Class Investagator level.

One of the members named Shousei gets his arm bitten off. I don't want the more relevant White Suit members dying off, since it hurts watching Naki break down when his members die off.

Hooguro grabs Shousei and quickly becomes enraged. He then lashes out at the Oggai squad and we see him form his Koukaku. Which looks pretty interesting. Sadly due to being outnumbered he is flanked and takes critical damage.

When reading it I actually thought he was done for. Luckily Naki ends up saving him from the Oggai Squad. We see a scene in which Naki yells at Hooguro for being reckless, and losing too much blood. Hooguro ends up tearing up, yet Naki calls him a cry baby and to get up. This is some great character development for Naki to be honest.

They both reengage the enemy and decapitate/defeated 2-3 of them from the looks of it.

We see Miza after the community was questioning if she was killed off an earlier chapter in this arc. I'm glad she survived to be honest. Miza was the one to send Touka and all of them away. She should have hanged with Touka instead...

We then see Naki further attack the enemy, yet he is completely outnumbered. And he has a lot of blood on him. It's not very pretty, and we see his Kagune eventually break off. Which is a pretty dire red flag. Especially when you have a lot of Naki's thoughts occurring during this.

The inner monologue continues for quite a bit. And we see Naki thinking about the connections with all his comrades.

We then see him think of Yamamori and the panel goes white. I am unsure what this means, but Naki will either die next chapter or we'll see a Kakuja. I think the ladder is more probable and I hope for this to be the case.

All Rights Go To Shueisha and Sui Ishida!
